Day 1 : Raiatea Island
Step on board as the crew warmly welcomes you to your new home for the next seven days. After settling in, you’ll begin your adventure with a visit to the majestic Raiatea Island. Known as the ‘sacred isle,’ Raiatea hums with a mystic, enchanting ambience and offers a more authentic island experience since there are fewer beaches and tourists. Here, you can enjoy excellent snorkeling and diving.
Days 2-3 : Papeete
It’s never really a complete Tahiti exploration without a visit to the famous capital city of Papeete. This region is home to the finest shops, restaurants and nightlife scenes in Tahiti. It’s one of the best places to be if you’re looking to get a taste of the island life. Check out the local markets or take part in the Tama’ara’a, a weekly Tahitian feast that involves banana-wrapped food cooked in an oven that has been dug into the ground and covered with sand to make it airtight. This cooking process lasts several hours but then the food comes out all tender and flavorful so it’s definitely worth the wait. Nightlife in Pape’ete is pretty active too with several bars providing live music and serving various beverages across the island.
Days 4: Moorea Island
Located just a 30-minute cruise away from Tahiti, Moorea is one of the crowning jewels of the Society Islands with its stunning scenery and a full lineup of outdoor activities. The pristine beaches here are surrounded by calm, shallow waters that are rarely affected by tides, making it one of the most ideal spots for diving, snorkeling among abundant marine life and kayaking. If you’re looking for something more adrenaline-pumping, you can also go abseiling, sky-diving, kite-surfing and quad-biking
Days 5-6: Bora Bora
Idyllic Bora Bora, French Polynesia’s leading lady, is one of the world’s premier romantic destinations with its tranquil blue-green lagoon and over-the-water bungalows perched on stilts. One of the best things about Bora Bora is that you can be sure of a pretty amazing time whether you choose to be hit the beautiful waters or simply lounge back and marvel at the view. Orion is equipped with some of the coolest toys to take your experience all the way, including kite surf equipment, snorkeling gear, fishing gear, sea scooters, and a Seabob. Go all out and enjoy the island’s most breathtaking offerings in what is sure to be the experience of a lifetime.
Days 7: Taha'a
Located between Bora Bora and Huahine, Taha’a is French Polynesia’s vanilla capital, boasting plantations full of the highly-prized Tahitian vanilla orchid. The scenery here is especially remarkable and the sweet intoxicating scent of vanilla pervades the air. Its unusual geography makes it the ideal place for a leisure hike through ascending slopes and deep valleys full of rare flora and fauna. Taha’a is also the best place to purchase exquisite black pearls.
After spending the afternoon exploring Taha’a’s dazzling landscape, come back to Orion for sunset cocktails in the jacuzzi or enjoy a delicious dinner as you recount your adventures on the way back to port.
